Key Responsibilities:
- The Patient Access Operations Leader is responsible for organizing and coordinating the activities of assigned personnel to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate operations in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Resolve issues related to the area of responsibility while maintaining a thorough understanding of the functions within the department.
- Collaborate with the Patient Access Manager to develop and mentor staff, fostering optimal performance.
- Oversee orientation and training for all Patient Access personnel.
- Execute Revenue Cycle tasks essential for compliance and exceptional customer service.
- Assist the Patient Access Manager with daily operational functions.
- Utilize decision-making skills by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information to determine the best course of action.
- Demonstrate courage by addressing challenging issues and engaging in difficult conversations.
- Employ effective persuasion techniques to gain acceptance of ideas and commitment to actions that support specific outcomes.
- Partner with individuals to support their development of knowledge, skills, and abilities, empowering them to reach their full potential.
- Establish and maintain trusting relationships by accurately understanding and interpreting emotions, adapting behaviors to achieve desired results.
- Ensure an inclusive environment by making decisions that leverage the capabilities and insights of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Coordinate all registration duties with direct and indirect reporting employees.
- Ensure daily completion of registration and pre-registration tasks.
- Provide training and support to staff.
- Monitor daily productivity and communicate results to staff, reviewing key performance metrics.
- Assign and coordinate staff schedules, including rotations, time off, and call-offs as necessary.
- Manage the upfront collection process, tracking and monitoring as required.
- Assign goals and provide coaching and corrective action as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, which may include days, nights, and weekends.
- While on-call, provide administrative and educational guidance to staff as needed.
- Assist in developing departmental processes and procedures.
- Conduct audits to ensure acceptable performance and provide ongoing coaching and education.
- Act as a resource for staff and ancillary departments.
- Promote excellent customer service for both internal and external clients.
- Hold self and others accountable for behaviors that enhance service excellence.
- Manage assigned projects related to implementation, tracking, and process changes.
- Report routinely to Patient Access Leadership for monitoring purposes.
- Attend facility meetings as required to ensure alignment and effective communication between teams.
Experience & Education:
- 2 Year/Associates Degree or 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 1+ years of supervisory experience in healthcare or business preferred.
- Ability to lead and direct others; strong analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of registration, insurance, scheduling, and hospital billing.
