Job Overview

Construction Financial Manager

The Financial Manager will oversee the Payroll, Accounts Payable (A/P), and Accounts Receivable (A/R) operations, which include billing, collections, month-end closing, reporting, Work in Progress (WIP), budgeting, and cash flow analysis. This role will report directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide financial insights to the Owner; prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and coordinate year-end financial closing with external CPA firms.

2. Supervise A/P and A/R operations, ensuring precision and timely processing of payments.

3. Generate commission and bonus reports for the sales and operations teams.

4. Manage all month-end responsibilities, including accruals, allocation of prepaid expenses, retention management, completing month-end WIP adjustments, and ensuring accuracy for bank and surety submissions.

5. Conduct ad hoc financial analyses as required.

6. Enhance the Accounting Department by evaluating current processes, suggesting improvements, and implementing efficient workflows.

7. Address accounting and financial inquiries from other managers by researching and interpreting relevant data.

8. Develop the annual budget, responsible for forecasting, reporting month-end performance against the budget, and adjusting forecasts to align with current needs.

9. Analyze expenditures and forecast cash flow to support operational funding.

10. Collaborate with banking institutions to secure and maintain lines of credit.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

· At least 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.

· Comprehensive understanding of federal and California certified payroll compliance, construction invoicing (including progress and AIA billing), and full-cycle AP/AR management.

· Proficient in QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition and MS Office applications.

· Strong organizational skills, capable of managing a high volume of work, training team members, and ensuring accuracy in all outputs.

· Experience with the implementation of new software platforms is preferred.

Work Schedule: Full-time, in-office, Monday to Friday
