About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiation Oncology Nurse to join our team at Providence Health & Service. As a Radiation Oncology Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals undergoing radiation therapy for cancer treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and performing treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
  • Collaborate with the radiation oncology team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and provide education and support to patients and their families to promote optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in radiation oncology and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California.
  • Experience in radiation oncology or a related field, preferably with a focus on cancer care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced certification in oncology nursing, such as the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or the Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON).
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and other healthcare technology.
  • Knowledge of cancer treatment options and radiation therapy modalities.
