Position Overview:

Are you ready to elevate your software engineering career? As a Principal Platform Software Engineer at Nightwing, you will play a pivotal role in developing advanced computing platforms essential for aviation operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of critical embedded software for both military and commercial aviation applications.
  • Utilize embedded Linux systems, C/C++ programming, networking protocols, and hardware interface tools to innovate and enhance product offerings.
  • Define software requirements, implement solutions, create testing protocols, and ensure compliance with certification standards.
  • Oversee technical, scheduling, and budgetary aspects of project tasks while guiding team members in their assignments.
  • Assist in project planning, including estimating task durations, identifying dependencies, and assessing risks.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by leading engineering teams, coordinating efforts, and encouraging open communication.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with at least 5 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming, particularly in real-time embedded environments.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience leading software development teams.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in problem-solving, evaluating options, and developing solutions for software on real-time operating systems.
  • Strong background (8+ years) in collaborating with diverse teams throughout the software development process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DO-178B standards (DAL A or B preferred).
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or LynxOS.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software engineering processes, including requirements writing, design, testing, and delivery.
  • A commitment to teamwork and mentoring within engineering teams.
