Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of embedded software that is critical for military and commercial aviation systems.
  • Utilize embedded Linux operating systems, C/C++ programming, networking protocols, device drivers, and hardware interface tools in innovative ways for new product development.
  • Define requirements, implement software solutions, create testing procedures, and ensure compliance with certification standards.
  • Oversee technical, scheduling, and budgetary aspects of team projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines while supporting team members in their tasks.
  • Contribute to project planning, including estimating task sizes, identifying dependencies, and assessing risks and opportunities.
  • Participate in and potentially lead an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating efforts, facilitating communication, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with at least 5 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming, particularly in real-time embedded software environments.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience leading a software development team.
  • 8+ years of experience in identifying complex software issues, evaluating options, and devising solutions for software operating on real-time systems.
  • 8+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in the design and development of solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DO-178B standards (DAL A or B preferred).
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or LynxOS.
  • Extensive experience with software engineering processes, including requirements writing, software design, testing, and delivery support.
  • A strong emphasis on teamwork and mentorship within engineering teams.
