Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse II to join our team at the Department of State Health Services. As a key member of our HIV/STD Program, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to individuals, families, and communities in rural areas of Public Health Region 9/10.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate nursing activities for the care of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Provide direct client care and case management services, including assessment, testing, treatment, education, and counseling.
  • Participate in disease control and prevention, community education, quality assurance, and program administration activities.
  • Serve as a technical consultant and resource to the public and medical professionals.
  • Maintain and operate a Class D Pharmacy.
Requirements
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule.
  • Operates clinics at both Midland and San Angelo offices.
  • Develops and delivers HIV/STD training programs/presentations.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with local health departments, infection preventionists, physicians, laboratories, and others involved in public or private healthcare.
Working Conditions

This position will conduct activities during public health emergencies and pandemic responses, which may require a change in shift, location, and/or supervisor.
