Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse II to join our team at the Department of State Health Services. As a key member of our HIV/STD Program, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive nursing services to individuals, families, and communities in rural and frontier areas of Public Health Region 9/10.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct client care and case management services, including assessment, testing, treatment, education, and counseling for individuals with sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Conduct public health follow-up investigations and coordinate with Disease Intervention Specialists to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Develop and deliver HIV/STD training programs and presentations to meet the needs of the department and other service providers.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with local health departments, infection preventionists, physicians, laboratories, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in the development and revision of policies, procedures, and standing delegation orders.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, program evaluation, and recommendations for program improvement.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Experience in public health nursing, HIV/STD care, and program coordination.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to rural and frontier areas. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team setting, communicate clearly and concisely, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
