Position Summary
Versar, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Roadway Maintenance Specialist II to join our team.
Your Responsibilities
- Operates various machinery including mini-excavators, skid-steers, and mowers.
- Performs repairs or installations of concrete structures such as barrier walls and drainage systems.
- Maintains guardrails and other traffic safety installations.
- Utilizes hand tools for tasks like trimming, edging, and blowing debris.
- Conducts cleaning and grading of ditches and road shoulders, ensuring removal of litter and debris.
- Repairs signage, fences, and other roadside assets.
- Applies herbicides under supervision or if licensed.
- Responds to incidents and sets up Temporary Traffic Control with appropriate oversight.
- Records work hours and tasks using company-provided devices.
- Participates in on-call duties as required, with potential for overtime.
- Undertakes additional tasks as needed.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in equipment operation, concrete work, or similar fields.
- Valid driver's license preferred; must obtain within 90 days if not currently held.
- Availability for on-call rotation is necessary.
- Effective communication skills in English with colleagues and supervisors.
- Reliable transportation to and from the office is required.
- Ability to lift weights between fifty to sixty pounds.
- Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Completion of required training courses within three (3) months of employment.
- Professional appearance in line with job responsibilities.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working near active traffic.
- Successful completion of pre-employment screenings.
- Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol policy.
- Authorization to work in the US is mandatory.
Desirable Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in roadway operations, construction, or landscaping.
- Knowledge of standard landscaping practices, including mowing and fertilization.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation.
- Certification in Maintenance of Traffic (MOT).
- Possession of an Agricultural Pesticide Applicator's License.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
- Possession of a CDL A or B license.
