Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing support to licensed medical providers in various settings, including clinics and surgical settings. This role requires a high level of compassion, knowledge, and individualized care to all patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients during exams and treatments, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain medical information and vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for physician exams, ensuring they are properly consented and prepared for treatment.
  • Administer medications as directed by a physician, following safety protocols.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, and instructions to patients.
  • Assist physicians with exams and treatments, handing them instruments and materials.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient exams, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Assess patient conditions throughout exams and procedures, notifying physicians and RNs of any concerns.
  • Responsible for cleaning rooms and medical equipment between patients and at the end of the day.
  • Dispose of infection waste and biohazard materials properly.
  • Schedule appointments for patients and change dressings on wounds.
  • Greet patients arriving at the office or clinic.
  • Contact medical facilities to schedule patients for tests and admission.
  • Inventory and assess the need for instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
  • Document all procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Respond to emergency situations, following nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting, preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, required.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications.
  • Detail-oriented, professional attitude, and reliable.
  • Management and organizational skills to support leadership.
  • Ability to follow or provide verbal and written instructions.
  • Interpersonal skills to support customer service and team support needs.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem-solving.
  • Basic to intermediate computer operation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines.
