Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician role is a critical position at Samaritan Medical Center, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform decontamination procedures to ensure the removal of all contaminants from equipment and instruments.
  • Prepare reusable patient care items for sterilization, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Operate sterilization equipment, utilizing appropriate methods to ensure the highest level of sterility.
  • Pick and distribute surgical case carts, storing and managing reusable patient care equipment, instrument trays, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure seamless workflow and efficient patient care.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, customers, and colleagues, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and courtesy.
Requirements
  • High School Equivalent or GED required; graduate of a Sterile Processing program preferred.
  • Previous hospital central service instrument decontamination and assembly, inventory, or distribution experience preferred.
  • Basic medical terminology preferred; knowledge of steam, EtO, plasma, peracetic acid, dry heat, and liquid sterilants required.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail required.
  • Effective January 1, 2019, all non-certified Sterile Processing Technicians system-wide will have two years to become certified through CBSPD or IAHCSMM and must maintain certification thereafter.
