OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE:


Under the supervision of the Facilities & Safety Manager, the Maintenance Worker I is responsible for executing various tasks related to facility upkeep, cleaning services, landscaping, and general maintenance operations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.0

FACILITY MAINTENANCE:
Engages in a broad spectrum of responsibilities concerning all organizational facilities, which encompasses all facets of building upkeep, including electrical, plumbing, heating, carpentry, and necessary repairs to organizational property and equipment. Responsibilities also include snow removal, landscaping, and maintenance of parking areas and driveways. Executes assigned tasks to ensure adherence to local and state regulations and standards. Collaborates with the Manager to achieve both short- and long-term objectives while performing all preventive maintenance tasks as required.

2.0

CLEANING DUTIES:
Conducts all aspects of facility sanitation, housekeeping, and cleaning tasks as assigned. This includes fundamental duties such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and waste disposal.

LANDSCAPING:
Handles all facets of grounds maintenance for organizational facilities, as assigned. This may involve snow removal, spreading sand and salt, mowing lawns, raking, trimming shrubs, planting flowers, leaf collection, and other landscaping tasks as directed. Must possess knowledge of necessary tools and equipment and demonstrate the ability to operate power equipment. Familiarity with lawn and garden chemical applications is essential.

MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS:
Assists the Manager with the overall functioning of the department as directed. Collaborates closely with other departmental personnel throughout the course of work. Utilizes skills and experience to expedite maintenance requests and special projects. Responsible for paperwork, record-keeping, and inventory management as required. Monitors and identifies fire and safety concerns relevant to each facility. Works with the Manager towards achieving maintenance operations short- and long-term objectives. Must be physically capable of lifting heavy items, working from heights using ladders, and knowledgeable in the operation of various hand tools and power equipment. Involved with organizational transportation, vehicle inspections, and maintenance as directed. Availability for overtime is required, and full-time employees will provide beeper coverage and 24-hour availability for emergencies when scheduled or on call.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred experience or knowledge in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, basic computer skills, and familiarity with operating various hand tools and power equipment, janitorial tasks, snow removal, and lawn care. However, willing to train the right candidate.
