Overview

The Purchasing Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the Brand Buyer, Replenishment Buyer, and Merchant Team. This position is essential for managing procurement, pricing, and oversight of Central Network Retail Group's key asset: in-store inventory. The Purchasing Support Specialist acts as a crucial link between the purchasing and operations departments, fostering communication that enhances productivity and collaboration. Additionally, this role encompasses general support for all activities related to the Purchasing Department as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Input purchase orders and send them to vendors as directed by the Brand Buyer or Replenishment Buyer.
  • Enter promotional pricing to facilitate all marketing and promotional initiatives.
  • Process resource center requests as necessary for:
    • New item requests or updates to existing items.
    • Adjustments in product costs or retail pricing.
    • New vendor requests or updates to current vendors.
  • Assist the purchasing team in conducting online retail price comparisons.
  • Engage with vendors to track and resolve any outstanding purchase order concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Brand Buyer(s) and Accounting Department to address vendor invoicing discrepancies related to pricing and product quantities.
  • Oversee the centralized receipt of orders made by stores to ensure accurate invoice matching.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to facilitate product transfers to retail locations.
  • Support Brand Buyer(s) in developing assortment planning spreadsheets for all line reviews.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Brand Buyer, Replenishment Buyer, or other qualified corporate representatives.

Qualifications

A successful Purchasing Support Specialist should exhibit strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail. Experience in the retail home improvement sector, including product knowledge, is advantageous. Proficiency in ten-key data entry with speed and accuracy, along with basic computer skills in MS Office Suite and Google Suite, is required. The ability to work independently and take responsibility for performance is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues, especially in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions. A customer service-oriented and team-focused approach, coupled with a professional demeanor aligned with Central Network Retail Group values, is expected. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, is essential.

This position is classified as hourly (non-exempt from overtime). While there are no guarantees for career advancement, candidates with relevant experience will be considered for future opportunities.
