Job Summary

Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator I to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator I, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders, cranes, and excavators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment for excavations, pipeline installation, and leak repair.
  • Install trench boxes, mechanical shoring systems, and other support systems for safe excavations.
  • Assist mechanics in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and equipment.

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in operating heavy equipment, preferably in urban utility excavation, construction, and installation.
  • Valid Massachusetts Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Department of Public Safety Hoisting Engineer's Licenses (1B, 2A, 3A, 4E, and 4G).

Working Conditions:

The work environment is typically loud, with frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions, fumes, and airborne particles. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds frequently.
