Prepared Foods Product Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Prepared Foods Product Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. This exciting opportunity involves purchasing and replenishing food products, monitoring inventory control, and participating in regional programs for purchasing and promotions.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase and replenish food products through effective buying procedures.
- Monitor and act upon open PO reports for purchases and credits in a timely manner.
- Control spoilage and shrink, achieve turn goals, and participate in inventory management.
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
- Assist with counter service and cooking duties as scheduled or necessary.
- Communicate with the Kitchen Manager/Chef and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues.
- Maintain positive working relationships with vendors.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders to cost recipes.
- Oversee customer special order procedures.
- Support leadership in conducting inventories.
- Ensure financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets.
- Arrive at work stations on time, appropriately groomed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
- Provide exceptional customer service, address customer needs promptly, and model suggestive selling techniques.
- Maximize sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising procedures.
- FOLLOW established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment according to WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
- Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
Requirements
- Extensive product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, trends, and advances.
- Ability to create and negotiate price bids.
- Familiarity with products, nutritional information, and other relevant areas of study.
- Working knowledge of Prepared Foods merchandising expectations.
- Complete understanding of WFM margin program and profitability.
- Ability to educate team members on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to team members, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in interactions with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.
- Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
- Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
Benefits and Compensation
This role offers a competitive salary range of $18.00 - $24.10 per hour, commensurate with experience. Additionally, we provide access to comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan benefits, store discounts, paid time off, and more.
