Role Objective

The primary aim of this role is to support the Activities Director in executing a comprehensive activity program tailored to fulfill the needs of residents. This includes assisting in the planning, organization, implementation, and assessment of various recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual initiatives, in alignment with facility policies and individual care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates individual and group activities that cater to the interests and needs of residents.
  • Completes assessments related to activities for residents; regularly reviews and updates programs as required.
  • Engages with residents and their families to gather insights on activity preferences.
  • Coordinates transportation for residents to various activity locations within the facility.
  • Assists in leading scheduled activities aimed at enhancing the physical, social, and mental health of residents.
  • Records attendance for activity programs and ensures that documentation is detailed and reflects residents' responses.
  • Monitors residents' moods and behaviors during activities, reporting any notable changes to the Activities Director.
  • Supports the execution of in-room activities for residents who benefit from personalized engagement.
  • Plans and organizes offsite excursions and manages related transportation logistics when necessary.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure seamless execution of daily activities.
  • Utilizes resident assessment protocols to determine the need for care planning regarding activity-related concerns.

  • May encounter risks such as falls, burns from equipment, and exposure to various odors; may also experience reactions to dust, smoke, disinfectants, and other airborne substances.
  • Potential exposure to infectious materials and conditions, including but not limited to AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis.
  • May interact with emotionally distressed residents, family members, visitors, or staff.
  • Work is conducted in all indoor areas of the facility, which has controlled heating and lighting.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate stairs; may occasionally need to move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and overhead lifting as necessary for the role.
  • Involves prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, write clearly, enter data into a computer, and comprehend written and verbal information.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently; up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk, perform simple grasping, fine hand manipulation, and maintain near and far vision; must be able to hear conversations and speak clearly.

Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or GED, or equivalent is required.

Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

Certifications: Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing is preferred. CPR certification is also desirable.
