Job Summary

As a key member of the Greater New England Chapter's leadership team, the Development Director, Signature Events will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic direction, management, and financial growth for the Chapter's Gala-Greater New England's highest-grossing event-and Golf programs, Young Leadership Committee (YLC), and Speaker Series and other donor cultivation events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate, implement, and lead strategies and tactics for Chapter fundraising and development activities in the Signature Events program specifically to sustain continued growth, maximum penetration of core market areas and opportunities for expansion where appropriate.
  • Supervise a team of three direct reports, contributing to staffing decisions and evaluations. Provide ongoing growth and development by motivating, developing, and directing staff as they work to achieve Breakthrough T1D and chapter goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of constituents and build on current cultivation and engagement strategies for current and prospective individual and corporate donors by designing and executing donor cultivation events throughout the year.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities with both existing donors as well as new prospects and provide excellent donor relationship management to key chapter stakeholders.
  • Lead targeted fundraising efforts and collaborate with an outstanding Chapter team as well as national staff to achieve or exceed fiscal year gross/net financial goals for an event portfolio, including Gala and Golf.
Requirements
  • Seven (7) years of professional fundraising experience, with a clear record of success in fundraising and relationship management in a complex, mission-driven organization; three or more (3+) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Track record of success in donor development, donor stewardship, soliciting and closing corporate gifts, and execution of a Gala or similar large-scale event.
  • Experienced with staff and volunteer management, including committee development and succession planning.
  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising and event management including budgeting and forecasting.
