Role Purpose:

In the capacity of Senior Cost Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to uphold and assess the standard costs associated with raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventories. You will ensure that cost allocations adhere to established protocols and will scrutinize purchasing and manufacturing variances to guarantee precision while addressing discrepancies promptly. Additionally, you will compile reports for management and conduct ad-hoc analyses, which may encompass cost-saving initiatives, cost estimations for new products, and product time efficiencies. Updating standard costs as necessary and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles will also be part of your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and consolidate standard costs within a fully integrated ERP system (M2K - Epicor Manage 2000 & Costpoint).
  • Review BOMs and labor routing costs to verify their accuracy.
  • Establish standard material costs for all purchased inventory items.
  • Analyze and review Purchase Price Variances (PPV), overissues, and shortages.
  • Support the formulation and documentation of standard labor and overhead rates.
  • Analyze and review all production work order variances, identifying and recommending solutions for significant discrepancies in materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on inventory impairments, including scrap, shrinkage, and obsolescence.
  • Plan and oversee physical inventories and weekly cycle counts.
  • Reconcile stockroom, vendor-owned, and intercompany inventories along with reserve accounts.
  • Generate inventory reports categorized by sales code, plant labor, and foreign exchange currency.
  • Participate in month-end system closing responsibilities.
  • Engage in various audits, including financial and SOX audits.
  • Exhibit high proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to work integrity.
  • Experience with government contracts, including familiarity with FAR clauses, ICE submissions, and the development of provisional billing rates is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; 2-5 years of experience in cost accounting or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
