Role Summary

We are in search of an enthusiastic and innovative individual to fill the role of Financial Aid Advisor I. This position involves supporting the financial aid administration under the guidance of the Director of Financial Aid and senior team members. The advisor will assist students and their families throughout the financial aid application process, evaluate eligibility, provide program guidance, and contribute to the development and execution of relevant policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver personalized financial aid services to both current and prospective students, including application assessments, award packaging, and counseling.
  2. Enhance student success by providing guidance on financial literacy topics such as budgeting, loan repayment, and other factors impacting academic performance and eligibility for aid.
  3. Assist in the management of various financial aid programs, including federal, state, and institutional grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships.
  4. Conduct thorough reviews of student records through a systematic reporting process to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria and to adjust financial aid awards as necessary.
  5. Oversee the collection of student information and documentation.
  6. Exercise independent judgment in modifying student financial aid records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  7. Represent the Financial Aid Department at various events and presentations.
  8. Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Student Advocates, Student Accounts, and Enrollment.
  9. Uphold the confidentiality of student records.
  10. Engage in professional development opportunities and participate in committees as required.
  11. Contribute to university initiatives and activities that align with the institution's mission.
  12. Handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
  13. Demonstrate a student-centered approach in all job functions.
  14. Foster respect and understanding of diverse backgrounds within the university community.
  15. Anticipate and respond to customer needs, delivering services that reflect positively on the department and the university.

Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or three years of relevant experience.
  2. Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems.
  4. Must maintain good standing with personal Title IV loans.
