Job Title: Imaging Specialist I

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking an Imaging Specialist I to join our team in Seattle, Washington. As an Imaging Specialist I, you will play a critical role in supporting the scientific needs of researchers at Fred Hutch by assisting with basic tasks and operating sophisticated scientific instruments.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform imaging studies using Cellular Imaging instruments, including acquiring images and communicating with investigators.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance for microscope hardware, software, and computer workstations.
  • Assist in developing team SOPs, training materials, and guidelines for investigator use.
  • Report results to users, perform basic billing requirements, and facilitate data transfer and archiving.
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with faculty, researchers, and external users to identify scientific needs.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience, OR GED/High School Diploma and 3+ years of experience.
  • Bachelors in Biology, Biophysics, or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new systems and techniques.
  • Previous experience using and a basic understanding of light microscopy, especially live-cell and widefield fluorescence microscopy.
  • Basic understanding of image processing software (e.g. ImageJ/FIJI).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative small-team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc).
