We are seeking an Imaging Specialist I to join our team in the Cellular Imaging light microscopy core. The successful candidate will support the scientific needs of researchers by assisting with basic tasks, operating sophisticated scientific instruments, and performing imaging studies using Cellular Imaging instruments.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks, including equipment maintenance and supply management.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated scientific instruments, including microscopes and computer workstations.
- Assist users of the facility with instrument operation and data analysis.
- Perform imaging studies using Cellular Imaging instruments, including acquiring images and executing image analysis pipelines.
- Develop and maintain team SOPs, training materials, and guidelines for investigator use.
- Report results to users, perform basic billing requirements, and facilitate data transfer and archiving.
- Establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with faculty, researchers, and external users to identify scientific needs.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience, or GED/High School Diploma and 3+ years of experience.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors in Biology, Biophysics, or Engineering, demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new systems and techniques, previous experience using and a basic understanding of light microscopy, especially live-cell and widefield fluorescence microscopy, basic understanding of image processing software (e.g. ImageJ/FIJI), excellent communication and organizational skills, desire to work in a collaborative small-team environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
