Imaging Specialist I

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leading institution in cancer research and treatment, and we are seeking an Imaging Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our Cellular Imaging light microscopy core, you will play a crucial role in supporting the scientific needs of researchers at Fred Hutch.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks, including operating sophisticated scientific instruments and assisting users with instrument operation and data analysis.
  • Acquire images, communicate with investigators, and execute image analysis pipelines using Cellular Imaging instruments.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance for microscope hardware, software, and computer workstations, and assist in supply management.
  • Develop team SOPs, training materials, and guidelines for investigator use, and report results to users.
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with faculty, researchers, and external users to identify scientific needs.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience, or GED/High School Diploma and 3+ years of experience.
  • Bachelors in Biology, Biophysics, or Engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new systems and techniques.
  • Previous experience using and a basic understanding of light microscopy, especially live-cell and widefield fluorescence microscopy.
  • Basic understanding of image processing software (e.g. ImageJ/FIJI).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative small-team environment.
