We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pre-Registration Representative to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient registration of patients for upcoming appointments.


This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with normal business hours of 9:00am-5:30pm EST. Our office is located at 43 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412.


We offer 3-6 weeks of paid training, with hours from 8:30am to 5:00pm EST, Monday through Friday. Training will be conducted onsite.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Excellent Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to patients, providers, and other departments via phone or in-person interactions.
  • Patient Demographic and Insurance Information: Collect and verify patient information, making necessary changes to ensure accuracy within each encounter.
  • Department Collaboration: Engage with other departments to assist with patient questions or needs.
  • Benefit Information and Copays: Facilitate conversations with patients to provide benefit information and collect copays or other patient liabilities due prior to service.
  • Department Metrics: Remain aware of department service level, abandonment rates, and other measurable data, contributing to individual and overall metrics.
  • Productivity and Audit Goals: Meet or exceed department-defined productivity and audit goals, upholding all department policies and procedures.
  • Escalation and Verification: Escalate outstanding needs to department leadership to ensure pre-registration and financial clearance functions occur prior to service date, expediting patient service and assisting with smooth and on-time starts.
  • Insurance Coverage and Benefits: Verify insurance coverage and benefits, updating the encounter accordingly.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 6+ months of experience in an office setting, customer service setting, phone support role, or call center environment.
  • Computer Skills: Beginner-level proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Age and Availability: 18 years of age or older, with the ability to work normal business hours.
  • Flu Vaccination: Influenza vaccination for the current flu season or commitment to receive the vaccination when available for the upcoming flu season.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registration Experience: 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital or medical setting.
  • Medical Terminology: Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Insurance Policies and Procedures: Working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings.
  • Previous Experience with Northern Light Health: Previously worked for Northern Light Health.

Telecommuting Requirements:
  • Residency: Reside within a commutable distance to 43 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412.
  • Security: Ability to keep all company-sensitive documents secure.
  • Dedicated Work Area: Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Internet Connection: Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.
