Job Summary

The Principal Flight Safety System Engineer position is a critical role within the Energetics and Propulsion Department, responsible for the design and development of propulsion technology to support the Land Warfare and Air Defense mission area.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, update, and approve system verification artifacts and system requirements.
  • Design electrical circuits and identify issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate issues.
  • Work independently as a self-starter and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • This is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set a schedule.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of experience with technical engineering background, leading teams in the aerospace or government sector, or an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date, with U.S. citizenship required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree.
  • 10+ years of directly related experience in mechanical and electrical design.
  • Specific experience developing electrical sub-systems used in flight termination, such as electronic arm fire devices, flight termination receivers, flight termination controllers, tracking systems, etc.
  • Experience developing and qualifying flight systems for harsh environments.
  • Working knowledge of RCC319.
  • Experience developing destruct termination devices.
  • Experience in business development and technology road mapping.
  • Demonstrated success as a team leader.
