The Cardiac Catheterization Radiology Technologist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. As a cardiovascular radiological technologist and patient caregiver, this individual is responsible for promoting quality care for patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular, peripheral procedures, and pain procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Utilize critical thinking skills, professional judgment, and leadership to plan, direct, and evaluate patient care.
- Operate all radiographic equipment in the cardiac cath lab, including image digital acquisition equipment, and identify and solve problems with the equipment.
- Assist cardiologists in the performance of invasive procedures, such as scrubbing, equipment utilization, and hemodynamic computation.
- Foster the professional development of unit staff through support of the orientation process and other educational activities.
- Participate in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment as assigned by supervisor through in-house requisitions or purchase order requests using cost-effective measures.
- Function as a Radiology safety person for the cardiac Cath lab, reinforcing radiation safety to all Cath Lab personnel concerning proper distance and shielding.
- Provide service for both scheduled and emergency procedures.
- Maintain own personal professional growth and development.
- Graduation from an accredited school of Radiology.
- Current RT License in the State of Ohio.
- Current ARRT Registry preferred.
- Basic Cardiac Life support (BCLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- 1+ years of Interventional (IR) or procedural experience (Cath Lab, OR, IR), preferred.
- New Grads welcome to apply.
- Ability to work staggered 8-10 hour shifts and be on call (when needed).
- Capability to work effectively under stressful and challenging situations.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids may occur.
- Exposure to radiation as part of the job.
- Proficiency in assisting patients during transfers.
- Capable of performing lifting, pulling, and pushing activities related to patient positioning, transfer, and stocking of supplies.
Provides competent, proficient, technical support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, implementing procedural standards and protocols.
Patient Centered CareProvides patient care specific to procedural requirements and patient needs (under the supervision of physicians and Cath Lab nursing personnel) within established departmental policies for scope of practice.
Patient/Family Member EducationProvides support and education to patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
