SALT Asset Management (SALT AM) is a group that serves a range of clients in the financial services industry, including private equity funds, hedge funds, fund of funds, capital market clients, and real estate clients. This role offers the opportunity to join a high-performing, high-growth team while working with complex clients in the Asset Management industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed review and analysis of complex Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and/or FoF partnership state tax returns
  • May serve as a Performance Advisor by providing mentorship or coaching to one or more employees
  • Train and develop staff members
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team
  • Serve as the state tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients
  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of state tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities
  • Reviewing research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards
  • Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients
  • Manage corporate client needs with respect to tax services and state tax compliance
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional, or local accounting firm
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Licensed JD
  • Prior state and local tax compliance & consulting experience serving Asset Management clients
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of state tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation, industry specialization a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
