Job Summary

The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, determining the priority of patients' problems and needs, implementing clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care, developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Essential Functions
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, and safely demonstrates basic knowledge of contemporary nursing practice in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Provides episodic (outpatient) and inpatient (at designated units) pediatric nursing care where applicable.
  • Applies knowledge of contemporary Pediatric nursing practice and future innovations to the care of pediatric patients that require nursing assessment and interdisciplinary team interventions.
  • Evaluates, updates, and revises plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (required within 6 months of hire).
Experience
  • One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Recent Medical/Surgical, NICU, Pediatric, OB, ED, or critical care experience (preferred, not required).
Training
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required).
