Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a Child Life Specialist, you will deliver and document developmentally specific psychosocial care to pediatric patients, their siblings, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care to meet the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on coping with medical procedures and hospitalization.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Document patient interactions and interventions in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or eligible for certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Child Passenger Safety Certification (CPST) must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Life, or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Experience in a hospital setting working with pediatric patients and families is preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to frequent change and prioritize multiple tasks.
