Position Overview

The Texas AFT is on the lookout for a Member Support Coordinator to assist in addressing member inquiries and resolving grievances within our organization and its affiliates. This role requires occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying opportunities for engagement based on member feedback
  • Encouraging potential union representatives
  • Addressing member questions and concerns
  • Utilizing the EMMA data management system
  • Keeping accurate member records
  • Providing assistance with response letters
  • Representing members during hearings
  • Facilitating conflict resolution among members
  • Conducting meetings to discuss member issues
  • Supporting affiliates with their organizing efforts
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Understanding of educational legislation and policies
  • Strong research and analytical abilities
  • Familiarity with virtual communication tools
  • Ability to build rapport with members
  • Sound decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational and self-management capabilities
  • Efficient resource management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, smart sheets, and Zoom

  • Possession of a valid Texas driver's license and dependable transportation
  • Willingness to travel for various initiatives
  • Spanish language skills are advantageous
