Highway Project Engineer Job Description

BETA Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Highway Project Engineer to join our team.

This role will play a key part in performing highway design, developing contract plans and documents, and mentoring junior staff.

The successful candidate will collaborate across our multiple service areas, assist with business development, project pursuits, and coordinate projects with our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering design, review, and preparation of contract documents.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentor junior staff.
  • Prepare and review contract documents and reports.
  • Collaborate with design team members and provide technical support.
  • Provide client service and assist with proposal pursuits.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer license, preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practices.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, DOT design requirements.
  • Experience with RIDEM and CRMC permitting regulations.
  • Ability to collect field data and measurements, including roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets, and perform asset inspections.
  • Ability to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow).
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
