Overview


In this tax-focused role, you will engage with clients to understand their operations and identify how we can assist them in achieving their objectives.

Your responsibilities will encompass various facets of tax compliance, forecasting, responding to tax inquiries, aiding in special projects, and fostering client relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in addressing routine inquiries and audits from federal or state authorities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients, particularly in updating them on the status of outstanding matters and addressing basic inquiries.
  • Deliver timely, high-quality service to clients by instilling a commitment to service in associates and seniors, providing adequate supervision throughout the engagement.
  • Advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and suggest alternative strategies.
  • Effectively manage the planning, execution, and conclusion of client engagements.
  • Conduct primary reviews of tax returns and provide written tax advice as needed.
  • Prepare and oversee the creation of tax accrual workpapers.
  • Participate in billing discussions and lead billing activities for clients as appropriate.
  • Stay informed on tax law developments and assess their relevance to clients.
  • Identify potential technical tax issues and collaborate with partners and other team members to ensure timely resolution.
  • Recognize and communicate potential high-risk engagement issues to partners.
  • Directly supervise staff members.
  • Assist in training interns and tax staff on tax software and departmental procedures, as requested.
  • Conduct in-house training sessions.
  • Develop departmental policies and procedures as necessary.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • CPA license is required
  • Five to twelve years of experience in public accounting is preferred
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required
Familiarity with fundamental accounting practices and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
