About the Role

Piston Automotive is seeking a highly skilled Labor Relations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for various general human resources tasks, with a focus on labor relations to enhance the overall productivity and effectiveness of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Discipline and Dispute Administration: Manage and resolve employee conflicts and disputes in a fair and timely manner.
  • Contract and Grievance Administration: Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements, and resolve grievances at the first level based on the agreement.
  • Cost and Time Savings Initiatives: Identify and implement cost-saving measures and process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Investigations and Resolution: Lead investigations and resolution of personnel relations issues, including counseling employees and conducting termination/exit interviews.
  • Workforce Inclusion and Company Policies: Drive initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive work environment, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Position Descriptions and Communications: Develop and maintain accurate position descriptions, employee communications, and personnel policy statements.
  • Recruitment and Selection: Screen resumes and applications, conduct interviews, and make job offers.
  • Succession Planning: Lead succession planning initiatives to ensure a smooth transition of roles and responsibilities.
  • LOA Tracking and Compliance: Oversee leave of absence tracking and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Employee Engagement Initiatives: Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and retention.
  • Project Management: Manage projects and research assignments as required, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Assist in the formulation of compensation objectives, manpower goals, personnel policies, and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate organizational and employee training and development initiatives.
  • Internal and External Customer Support: Provide assistance to employees and external customers as needed.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist or Labor Relations Specialist, with at least three years in a plant/manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in labor relations, including collective bargaining agreement negotiation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot table experience.
  • Microsoft Office experience, including PowerPoint.
