Job Title: Residential Habilitation Counselor

At AHRC New York City, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Habilitation Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Habilitation Counselor, you will work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their private homes and communities, providing support and guidance in various aspects of their lives.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the areas of Activities of Daily Living (ADL), Skills Training, Development, Socialization, Recreation, and Leisure Activities.
  • Assist individuals with their daily needs, including meal preparation, cleaning, and hygiene.
  • Support individuals in exploring their interests and hobbies, and promoting skill development.
  • Work with individuals to develop and implement personalized plans to achieve their goals and objectives.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; certification in HHA, CNA, or PCA preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and community resources.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality support services.
