Residential Support Specialist: Food Service Coordinator

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Residential Support Specialist to join our team at the Children's Rescue Fund. As a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our residential services, including food handling and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete new resident intake arrival packets, exits logs, and daily occupancy forms.
  • Review nightly attendance rosters and incident reports.
  • Receive and confirm food deliveries, ensuring accuracy by signing and dating receipts.
  • Distribute meals to residents and dispose of expired food items according to DHS guidelines.
  • Monitor logs to ensure clients sign the daily attendance roster when entering and exiting the facility.
  • Provide clients with access to rooms and assist with room transfers and swaps, maintaining a clean office space.
  • Collaborate with the on-site Shift Supervisor to ensure a safe environment for staff and clients.
  • Conduct hourly rounds to ensure room doors are secured and clients' personal belongings are safe.
  • Alert medical staff and the immediate supervisor of clients in distress.
  • Review paperwork and logs with the Shift Supervisor before the end of the shift.
  • Ensure clean and ready units have linens and towels, and alert the maintenance team of needed items.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork, including daily occupancy, exit logs, meal census, and incident reports.
  • Serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and finalize the Night Signature Roster in CARES.
  • Receive and log incoming meals, deliver mail, and clock in using the time clock system.
  • Be available for overtime and work additional shifts to ensure coverage when staff is out.
  • Physically check unoccupied units to determine status and required actions.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Unexpired Food Handler Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid NYS security license (plus).
  • Two years' experience in Single Adult Shelters and/or Congregate Residential Services.
  • Experience working with families and the homeless population.
  • Incredible initiative, ability to work well under pressure, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency with Word, Excel, and ability to learn new technologies and databases.
