Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory tests where you are trained under the supervision of a technologist, supervisor, manager, or director.
- Perform instrument maintenance and quality controls.
- Conduct correlations studies, linearities studies, dilution studies, and precision studies.
- Obtain or receive laboratory specimens, perform standardized procedures both manual and automated.
- Recognize common technical problems and correct them under supervision.
- Perform testing with accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Telephone critical value results promptly and document them immediately.
- Prepare reagents and test samples correctly.
- Enter and retrieve patient data accurately using the laboratory computer system.
- Become familiar with troubleshooting techniques for major instruments.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Attend, participate, and evaluate continuing and in-service education programs.
- Work as a team player during all assignments.
- Support the lab's compliance with TJC, NYSDOH, and CAP.
- Valid certification as a clinical laboratory technician issued by the NYSED.
