Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing patient samples for analysis and culture, performing pre-analytical steps related to the initial set-up and plating of microbiology specimens, and working under direct supervision of a clinical laboratory technologist or manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process patient samples for analysis and culture, including reviewing appropriateness of requests, accessioning, aliquotting, centrifugation, and shipping preparation for specimens sent to a reference laboratory.
  • Perform pre-analytical steps related to the initial set-up and plating of microbiology specimens and stain preparation.
  • Work under direct supervision of a clinical laboratory technologist, laboratory Supervisor or manager of a clinical laboratory.

Requirements:

  • An Associate degree (or higher) from a certified clinical laboratory technician program registered by the NYSED.gov as licensure qualifying.
  • New York State Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting strongly preferred.
