Body Care Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Body Care Manager to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our store leadership team, you will be responsible for the successful operation and profitability of the Body Care department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Train, direct, and monitor department staff to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities and providing excellent customer service.
  • Manage department inventory, including ordering and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Monitor and maintain department profitability, including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
  • Ensure all in-stock products meet company standards.
  • Offer and follow up on special orders.
  • Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays to create an inviting and full department.
  • Manage and participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
  • Train and monitor department personnel, including assigning and following up on tasks.
  • Work with other department managers to cross-train staff to accomplish all needed tasks.
  • Conduct active and passive demos.
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring for department needs.
  • Work with the store manager to address performance and/or disciplinary issues within the department.
  • Open and close the store, including DSR and the closing cash process.
  • Handle register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing customer complaints, and covering register shift changes.
  • Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees.
  • Occasionally manage business disruptions to daily business, such as loiterers, solicitation, emergency weather situations, and bathroom misuse.
  • Answer customer questions per company standards and policies.
  • Continually increase product knowledge.
  • Use SAP and inventory management software to run and analyze reports, email, and utilize other IS programs as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in retail, preferably in a grocery or retail environment, with a natural foods background a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience supervising others preferred.
  • Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused on the task at hand.
  • Sense of urgency in completing tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through.
  • Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
