Job Overview

Position: Vacuum Truck Operator I / Environmental Field Technician

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a valid Class A or B CDL with airbrakes endorsement is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL within the last 7 years.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical Requirements.


• A TWIC card and 40 Hr OSHA Training (HAZWOPER) are preferred but not mandatory.

  • Ability to fulfill physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening, background checks, and DOT Physical.
  • Willingness to travel for up to 14 days per month is mandatory.

POSITION SUMMARY: Operates independently to oversee and manage small to medium-sized vacuum projects at client locations, ensuring compliance with client and company standards, as well as DFS policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guides and supports team members in executing job tasks to meet client expectations and adhere to DFS policies.
  • Reviews work orders to ensure all necessary equipment is available and functional before commencing work.
  • Conducts inspections of equipment and work areas prior to job initiation, addressing any issues that could lead to accidents or inefficiencies.
  • Maintains effective communication throughout the project.
  • Performs routine and corrective maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Completes required documentation, including service receipts, and submits to designated management.
  • Trains Technicians I and II on equipment operation and service line processes.
  • Operates all necessary equipment in accordance with safety and operational training protocols.
  • Executes additional duties as assigned, including managing drums and containers during projects.
  • Conducts various inspections and completes necessary forms.
  • Prepares reports as required.
  • Assists the Environmental Team Lead with various office and field tasks as directed.
  • Ensures accuracy in Waste Records and/or Manifest Records.
  • Provides environmental services to clients as needed.
  • Participates in Emergency Planning and Response activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic 40 hr OSHA/HazWoper Certification (29 CFR).
  • Fork Lift Certification.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in handling non-hazardous liquid waste.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and train other personnel.
  • Proficient in solving a variety of complex problems.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Capability to identify hazards, assess risks, and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, commitment to results, teamwork, self-motivation, and effective communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse internal partners.
  • Completion of courses in CFRs 40 (EPA) and 49 (DOT).
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certifications are advantageous.
