POSITION SUMMARY

The Class A Truck Operator at Feeding South Florida will undertake a variety of responsibilities associated with the collection, transportation, and distribution of products. This role includes tasks within the warehouse environment. The Class A Truck Operator is essential in ensuring vehicle upkeep and adhering to Quality Control standards for the items being transported. This position necessitates a passion for engaging with customers, both internal and external, fostering positive interactions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collect food and grocery products from retail outlets, manufacturers, ports, farms, and other partners in the food sector.
  • Distribute food and grocery items to partner organizations, special event locations, and community partners.
  • Examine, operate, and maintain equipment in a clean, professional, safe, and secure manner, in compliance with company, USDOT, FLDMV, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations. This includes tractors, trailers, box trucks, and other material handling tools.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and report any conditions requiring Management's attention.
  • Ensure that all relevant regulatory standards are consistently met through ongoing monitoring and reporting.
  • Follow all Feeding South Florida, Feeding America, and other relevant policies and procedures, including safe food handling, salvage protocols, inventory management, and distribution methods.
  • Communicate proactively with relevant stakeholders (e.g., dispatch, donors, partner organizations) regarding daily tasks.
  • Transport food items under sanitary conditions, adhering to safe food handling regulations and maintaining appropriate temperatures.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with donors and partner organizations.
  • Assist in weighing, loading, and unloading products.
  • Inspect products for expiration dates, contamination signs, or other indicators of unsafe handling and storage.
  • Operate vehicles in accordance with all legal driving regulations and maintain safe driving practices.
  • Support warehouse operations and equipment usage as needed.
  • Assist the Leadership Team and Management as required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid and clean CDL-A license.
  • At least 1 year of driving experience.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Current registration in the FMCSA clearinghouse is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Able to interact with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Capability to lift and carry weights in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic reading and writing skills in English.
  • Ability to complete training related to safe truck equipment operation and DOT safety inspections.
  • Ability to complete training related to safe food product handling.
  • Competence in preparing accurate written reports.
  • Ability to complete training related to safe warehouse equipment and machinery operation.
  • Capable of following instructions.
  • Able to work under pressure, managing various assignments responsibly and promptly.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Hours of Operation: Organization operates Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This position's schedule is from 6:00 a.m. until tasks are completed, Monday through Friday, with potential additional hours during peak times.
  • Environment: Involves activities in both office and warehouse settings, with exposure to South Florida's climate. Tasks may include extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, and bending, as well as listening, talking, and visual concentration. Noise levels in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.
  • Travel: This position may require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or special events, which may necessitate the use of a personal vehicle.
  • OSHA Standards: Lifting requirements are up to 50 pounds; for loads exceeding this weight, teamwork is required for safe lifting.
