About the Position and the Organization

The Lead Community Organizer role at Mothers Out Front is an essential position within the Campaigns & Organizing Department. Mothers Out Front is committed to ensuring a sustainable climate for future generations by fostering a diverse movement of mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers advocating for a transition to clean and renewable energy sources. As a Lead Community Organizer, you will be instrumental in recruiting and engaging members to propel climate justice initiatives, strengthen partnerships with community leaders, and empower local teams to take meaningful action.

Mothers Out Front empowers mothers to spearhead the fight for climate justice, striving to create a sustainable future for all children. The organization advocates for a swift, equitable transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, focusing on building a diverse, member-driven movement to effectuate impactful change at local, state, and national levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit a diverse array of new members through both digital outreach and in-person engagement strategies.
  • Support and expand volunteer-led teams by providing coaching, training, and collaborative opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a committed constituency focused on climate justice initiatives and campaigns.
  • Facilitate educational programs and skill-building activities for members.
  • Establish connections with allied organizations and community leaders to amplify the organization's impact.
  • Engage in strategic coalitions and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning and execution of innovative projects and campaigns.
  • Coordinate statewide campaign events as necessary.
  • Mentor volunteer leaders to build a diverse movement of mothers and caregivers advocating for climate justice.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in grassroots organizing with an emphasis on base building and leadership development.
  • Experience in advocacy campaigning and campaign planning.
  • In-depth understanding of the community in which you will be organizing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a knack for building relationships and engaging diverse groups.
  • Commitment to social justice and diversity, working to dismantle oppressive systems.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate at all levels.
  • Effective communication skills to inspire collective action.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
  • Experience in facilitating leadership development and organizing training.
  • Demonstrated ability to create collaborations and coalitions.

Position Details

Location: This is a fully remote position.

Compensation: The salary range is between $70,000 and $75,000, accompanied by comprehensive benefits and support for remote work.
