Job Summary:
The Transportation Training Specialist is responsible for delivering, evaluating, and coaching the designated training programs tailored to the organization's needs as identified by leadership and training teams. This role includes conducting final evaluations and coaching sessions to assess participant performance.

Key Responsibilities:
To succeed in this position, the individual must effectively perform the following essential duties:

  • Exhibit professional conduct consistently and communicate behavioral expectations to trainees.
  • Document schedules, participant attendance, and observations to ensure accurate training records.
  • Facilitate training sessions using adult learning principles and accelerated learning techniques.
  • Utilize observation and feedback to assess, coach, and enhance trainee performance during classroom and practical exercises.
  • Provide constructive feedback from training activities for final evaluations and conduct concluding coaching sessions with trainees.
  • Stay informed about training and company procedures through relevant literature and professional journals.
  • Collaborate with fellow trainers and field managers regarding operations, trainee challenges, and training requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
The following qualifications are essential for this role:

  • Education: Associate's Degree (accredited) or, in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma or GED (accredited) along with two (2) years of experience in transportation/logistics.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of CDL driving experience in the trucking sector, in addition to the educational requirement. At least one (1) year of experience in training and development, preferably within the transportation industry.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Driver's License is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Essential skills include proficiency in Microsoft Windows, presentation and facilitation skills, feedback provision, skill performance assessment, coaching, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Work Environment:
Key points regarding the environmental demands and work environment of this role include:

  • Motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation) is required part of the workday.
  • Physical effort may be necessary for handling objects weighing less than 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) is rare.
  • Frequent exposure to a physical environment that may involve dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.
  • The typical setting for this role is an office environment and outdoor skills course work.
