This role is based at Appian's HQ in McLean, VA. Employees hired for this position will have the opportunity to work in a flexible, hybrid environment. If you're not already located in the Washington, DC metro area, your willingness to relocate will be a contingency for this position.

About You:

You have 8+ years of experience building and delivering software applications. You've managed teams of software engineers or site reliability engineers, providing technical leadership, direct 1-on-1 mentoring, and coaching to improve their technical skills.

You're passionate about software performance, including tools and technologies used to solve complex performance problems. You have strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, and can convey complex problems in a way that lets us focus on solving the root cause.

You have a proven ability to make difficult decisions about what to prioritize and what to ignore. You identify where you can make the most beneficial impact for our customers and continue working until that benefit has been achieved.

You're passionate about adding data to our processes where it's missing, so we can gain insight into where our problems are. You understand the value of open-source technologies and know how to get them deployed and adopted in a mature software development environment.

Most importantly, you're passionate about keeping our customers happy with our product.

Preferred Experience Level: 8+ years of relevant experience, 3+ years of management, including building and delivering software applications.
