Job Overview

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in overseeing the QAPI processes across designated agencies. This position ensures adherence to the standards set forth by the Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP), the conditions of participation outlined by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other essential regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate documentation to pinpoint areas lacking compliance and relay findings and suggestions to the Clinical Manager and hospice staff.
  2. Monitor and analyze data for Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI).
  3. Formulate Plans of Correction and/or Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) to rectify compliance issues.
  4. Conduct chart audits as stipulated in the correction plans and/or PIPs.
  5. Deliver educational sessions to ensure compliance in identified areas.
  6. Visit various offices as necessary to assess regulatory compliance.
  7. Collaborate with the Regional Director of Compliance and Survey Readiness/Compliance Officer to identify risk areas and devise compliance strategies.
  8. Provide insights and training regarding the QAPI program.
  9. Organize and facilitate quarterly QAPI meetings for each assigned agency.
  10. Assist in the maintenance and revision of policies as required.
  11. Offer guidance and support on the Emergency Preparedness Program to agency leadership.
  12. Participate in committees, meetings, and team initiatives related to regulatory compliance and problem-solving within departments.
  13. Support the onboarding process for new employees.
  14. Exhibit a thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations concerning contract reviews and organizational policies.
  15. Assist the Regional Director of Clinical Operations and other supervisory hospice staff in planning, executing, and evaluating educational programs.
  16. Support agency leadership in various capacities, including survey preparation, staff training, and clinical operations.
  17. Adhere to established professional standards and practices.
  18. Assess the educational needs of hospice personnel and plan training in collaboration with the Regional Director of Clinical Operations and other leadership.
  19. Contribute to the development and documentation of processes.
  20. Engage in additional projects and committee work as needed.
  21. Travel to various assigned agencies, with travel frequency and duration varying based on agency requirements.
  22. Perform other tasks as delegated by the Regional Director of Compliance and Survey Readiness/Compliance Officer.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with a valid nursing license in the state.
  • Willingness to obtain licensure in all states where Moments Hospice operates.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Prior experience in a hospice environment, demonstrating the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with hospice regulations.
  • Commitment to professional standards and practices.
  • Understanding of hospice philosophy and the complexities surrounding death and dying.
  • Knowledge of pain and symptom management principles.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Excellent observational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
  • Familiarity with the hospice QAPI process.
  • Strong attention to detail.
