We are seeking a highly skilled Space Networking Systems Engineer to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing the next generation of space-based networks.

Job Summary:

The Space Networking Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing novel solutions for networking embedded, real-time space systems. You will work with our sponsors to develop space networking architectures, including the technical analysis of emerging networking protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop space networking architectures and protocols
  • Contribute to the construction of networking simulation and emulation environments
  • Collaborate with sponsors and experts in the field of computer networking
  • Help craft protocols, standards, and implementations for space-based networking
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience engineering computer networking software and/or networked software applications
  • Understanding of modern networking and transport protocols, network management protocols, and security protocols
  • Demonstrated experience delivering and deploying embedded software solutions to operational systems
  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 7 or more years of professional work experience
  • Experience developing or deploying network infrastructure technologies
  • Knowledge of flight software frameworks such as the Core Flight Executive (CFE) or Core Flight Services (CFS)
