Criminal Background Review Analyst

The Criminal Background Review Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the mission and strategic objectives of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). This position is responsible for independently organizing, coordinating, and executing comprehensive criminal background assessments across the state.

The Analyst adheres to established protocols and applies relevant legislation to conduct thorough reviews of various licensing categories that necessitate criminal record clearance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate evidence of rehabilitation presented by applicants or certificate holders to compile detailed criminal background reports.
2. Provide informed recommendations regarding the individual's eligibility for certification or employment clearance.
3. Represent the Department at administrative hearings as required, preparing necessary documentation such as accusations and statements of issues.

Travel may be necessary for this role, with an expectation of up to 5% travel time.

This position operates under the guidance of the Staff Services Manager I and may offer telework options in alignment with CDPH's Telework Policy.

Telework Eligibility: This role may allow for telework up to three days per week, with a requirement to report in-person to the designated headquarters office at least two days per week. The extent of telework is subject to departmental discretion and may change in accordance with CDPH's Telework Program.

All teleworking employees must be residents of California, as stipulated by Government Code. Candidates residing outside California may be considered for interviews; however, successful candidates must establish primary residency in California prior to appointment and maintain this residency as a condition of employment.
