The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities. As a key member of the Ballad Health team, this individual will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Register patients in a courteous and friendly manner, adhering to Ballad Health processes.
- Update and schedule patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Retrieve daily patient data for appointments and phone calls, maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain provider schedules, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
- Filing and refiling medical records, charts, and documents in a secure and organized manner.
- Perform data entry of office visit charges, collections of unpaid balances, and coding encounter forms with proper payment distribution CPT & ICD-10 codes.
- Filing and refiling insurance claims, reconciling the charge sheet, and preparing bank deposits.
- Counting the cash drawer, balancing credit cards, and reviewing and correcting errors on the missing ticket report.
- Performing closing procedures to ensure proper account balance, referral, and precertification, and preparing information for audit purposes.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent; previous experience performing data entry and utilizing a database.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality/HIPAA and communicate respectfully/kindly with patients, office staff, nurses, and medical staff.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes/billing is preferred, as well as previous experience utilizing an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
