Inpatient Coding Specialist

Please note that candidates must pass a coding skills assessment with a score of 95% or higher to be considered for this position. Academic medical coding is preferred but not required.
About the Role- Accurately assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 codes to inpatient encounters
- Work closely with physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialists, quality, and patient finance staff
- Play a key role in billing, research, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 5 years inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute care environment
- Must complete coding proficiency evaluation
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of MS-DRGs, disease process, clinical pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology
