Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Hospital Inpatient Coder to join our team. This role requires strong clinical coding knowledge and attention to detail to ensure accurate data extraction from patient encounters.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 codes to the highest level of accuracy for each inpatient encounter based on Official Coding Conventions guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic
* Work closely with physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialist, quality, and patient finance staff
* Play a key role in billing, research, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance
* Ensure accuracy of DRGs and appropriate extraction of core data into HIM abstracting system to data warehouse repository

Requirements
* High School diploma or equivalent preferred
* 5 years inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute care environment
* Must complete coding proficiency evaluation
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of MS-DRGs, disease process, clinical pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology

Physical Demands

Compensation
The salary for this position is $31.76 per hour, with a midpoint salary of $42.08 per hour. Your total compensation package will also include a range of benefits and perks.
