Job Summary

The Pasadena LEARNs Youth Leader works under the direction of the Pasadena LEARNs Site Coordinator, Principal, and Program Director. This role involves working with groups of approximately 20 students, providing assistance, academic support, and enrichment classes. The Youth Leader is an unclassified position, not subject to the Merit System guidelines.

Requirements / Qualifications

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
> An Awarded High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or higher.
> Six months of experience working with children ages 5-14.
> Consistent with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, candidates must meet one of the following conditions:
> Advanced education, such as an Associate (AA) degree or completion of 48 college semester units or 72 college quarter units, or education beyond an AA degree - OR - pass a formal Pasadena Unified School District academic assessment that demonstrates knowledge and ability to assist in teaching, reading, writing, and mathematics or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.
> Possession of current cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid certificates from an approved training program or must obtain within sixty (60) calendar days from date of hire.
> Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting) and possess current TB Test.
