Youth Development Coordinator

The Los Angeles LGBT Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Development Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic organization that is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and implement harm reduction programming and services, including substance use services, health education, and leadership development.
- Develop and maintain systems to ensure access to overdose prevention tools and maintain adequate supplies of Narcan and Fentanyl testing strips.
- Work closely with external partners to provide harm-reduction/prevention/recovery services to youth members.
- Develop and maintain reporting systems to meet program and grant needs and compile monthly reports as required.
- Recruit, train, coach, and schedule volunteers to assist in planning internship curriculum and provide valuable guidance as mentors for youth throughout their internship.
- Evaluate youth interns around job performance and make recommendations for encouragement and improvement incorporating a model for Positive Youth Development.
- Minimum 4 years of education in Health Science, Psychology, Social Work, or other Health/Behavioral Science required PLUS one year of experience providing harm reduction services.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, preferably with youth experiencing homelessness or other system-impacted youth and knowledge of community resources, harm reduction, and/or prevention programming.
- Experience working with youth in a youth development setting and knowledgeable of the principles of Positive Youth Development, harm reduction, substance use, and health education.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems.
- Be available to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings, attending conferences, events, and activities.
- Self-motivated, energetic, flexible and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
