Campus Support Monitor Job Description

Midland Independent School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Campus Support Monitor to join our team. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student code of conduct.
  • Resolve conflicts or confrontations between students and report disturbances to immediate supervisors.
  • Investigate complaints, disturbances, or violations.
  • Control traffic and parking on campus grounds.
  • Register student vehicles and maintain accurate records of registration.
  • Document, record, and report vandalism and car accidents, and prepare activity reports for theft.
  • Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.
  • Give directions or escort students, authorized visitors, disruptive individuals, or cargo to designated locations.
  • Monitor entrance or exit of persons, as needed.
  • Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and properties and prevent passage of prohibited articles into school areas.
  • Attend extra-curricular activities and graduation to provide student supervision, when necessary.
  • Maintain a good working relationship and professional demeanor with security personnel, DISD staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Monitor alarm systems to detect emergencies and notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authorities of any situation requiring immediate attention.
  • Warn persons of minor infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize public safety hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict situations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data, and property is a plus.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

Regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Regular attendance required.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.

A remote working environment/alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
